My wheel-thrown and altered vessels reference the erosive action of water on rock. By utilising the rhythm of throwing with changes in finger position, I mimic these natural forces and with deep throwing lines, often push pieces to the brink of collapse. Firing, holds the piece forever at that delicate point and fingers explore this texture as the functional pieces are used.
I explore the relationship between eye and hand, where the wealth of visual experiences are translated into hand movements on clay.
I work in porcelain and stoneware, using local found clays as inclusions/slips and in glazes.
