Micaela’s ceramics range from biomorphic sculptures to traditional pottery. Visually her work is diverse as she uses different clay bodies, decorating techniques and glazes. Yet her ceramics are recognisably linked through distinctive elaborate surface patterning and decoration. Micaela draws her inspiration from researched historical and ethnological patterns combined with techniques and styles from international and historical ceramic traditions. Her intention is to sensitively fuse these diverse elements to create ceramics which question assumptions about cultural identities within the context of multiculturalism.
