Originally from York, I trained at Brighton Art College and then on the potter’s wheel in Japan. I have developed a personal approach to throwing on the wheel using porcelain and stoneware clays, to produce unique pieces for the home. I use a Japanese comb tool to enhance the throwing lines, dipping and pouring my glazes, enjoying the effects the layering brings. My Icelandic collection is the culmination of a research trip to Iceland, expressing the ‘otherworldliness’ of the landscapes experienced there. My recent shoreline pebble dishes evoke the rockpools of the Northumberland coastline near my Newcastle home.
