Jane Staniland

My hand-built stoneware planters and pots, are painted and drawn with sgraffito and oxides, slips, glazes and sometimes lustres. Stories and legends inspired by our time and pots from the past. Nature, an active life and drawing is at the root of my practice. Ever experimental but clearly made by me. I was a successful ceramic artist in the eighties and first half of the nineties. I was then a pottery and art teacher until  2021. Now my ceramics has become less fragile and more functional a bit like me, but my passion is forever there to see.
