About Us

The Craft Potters Association

The Craft Potters Association of Great Britain (CPA), founded in 1958, is the national organisation representing ceramic artists across the UK. Created by makers for makers, we remain an artist-led community today, supporting more than 2,400 members – from internationally recognised potters to those at the beginning of their careers.

Our purpose is simple: to champion excellence in studio ceramics and to grow public appreciation for the craft, ensuring its value is recognised across culture and society.

The CPA brings together all parts of the ceramics community under one roof. Alongside our membership scheme, we:

Run three major annual fairs in London, Oxford and York, showcasing high-quality contemporary ceramics to thousands of visitors.

Operate Contemporary Ceramics, our shop and gallery opposite the British Museum, presenting work from CPA members and hosting regular solo and group exhibitions.

Publish Ceramic Review, the UK’s leading magazine for contemporary ceramics, in print and online since 1970.

If you are interested in joining the CPA – either as an Associate or as a Selected Member – please visit our website for details.
